With an inherent and unbiased love for music in all genres, Stuart has a trained musician’s ear and engineer's ear, and is able to bridge the gap between song-writing, music composition, production, and engineering. He has extensive experience working in a large range of music from pop, rock, indie, jazz, alternative, progressive music through to other musical universes including metal, electro, drum and bass, dub step, classical, sound art, and noise. Stuart is interested in working alongside artists to find and capture their own unique sound, and to provide his experience as a musician, producer, and engineer to open this universe to the listener. His track mastering experience follows an approach that ensures that the sonic integrity and dynamics of a mix are best represented for its genre from sound system to sound system. Stuart has been involved with projects for ShockOne, Timmy Trumpet and Matt Hykus, The Jac Dalton Band, The Johannes Luebbers Dectet, Will Stoker and the Embers, Pyromesh, Morphica, ensemble Decibel, The Shallows, Det Nopsus, King Wasabi, Sam Carmody, and Kate Finkelstein to name a few.
Stuart's extensive experience as a composer and performer gives him a unique edge in studio production, giving him the ability to arrange and orchestrate for any instrumentation. Stuart's own musical experience also has meant he is in touch with some of the best of Perth's session players. Stuart also has a highly trained musical ear, having transcribed complex music arrangements from recordings - he understands the music from the inside out.
As a composer Stuart has had composition commissions with the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), West Australian Symphony Orchestra New Music Ensemble, Tetrafide Percussion, and his work has also been performed by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Michael Kieran Harvey, and Decibel. Stuart has also been heavily involved with ensembles/bands as a pianist, drummer, and a laptop performer, and has supported in concert Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, David Byrne from The Talking Heads, Francois Breut, Antonio Forcione, The Hoodoo Gurus, Van She, KK Null, and Sarry. Stuart has more recently toured with ensemble Decibel twice to Europe.
